When I came across this gorgeous boutique hotel called “Archangel” in Frome, Somerset (England) I just had to share it. Archangel is a Grade-2 listed building (i.e. a building that is considered of special interest, warranting every effort to preserve it) and was first recorded as an Inn in 1311. When it was renovated, the owners wanted to preserve the medieval architecture and feel, but give it a modern twist.
The bedrooms are designed in a palette of deep, rich purples and golds which give it a luxurious and sumptuous feel. Freestanding zinc bathtubs and pops of yellow or turquoise help create a modern and fun experience. Each of the 10 bedrooms is designed uniquely; two of them have ceiling-to-floor wallpaper murals featuring Renaissance angels: one is a re-creation of The Annunciation by Leoardo Da Vinci, the other is from Fra Angelico’s Angel of the Annunciation.
Archangel – Divine Purple Interiors & Purple Bedrooms
Such a great example of how a feature wall can really make a statement.
There are three bars and two reception rooms with decor like this – it’s not surprising that it is so popular with visitors, as well as locals.
Purple features in the 2013 Colour Forecast, see Regal Bearing P4-D1-2. Other purples to have a look at on the Inspired Colour stand are Angel’s Landing P2-C1-2 and Midnight Rendezvous P2-C1-1.
