In my opinion, bathrooms are the trickiest of spaces in almost every home. We all dream of big and luxurious spaces with slick bath, shower and tap fittings; the sort we ogle over in the pages of glossies like Elle Decor and House & Leisure.
But the reality, for many of us, is a dark and dingy little space with bad tiling, ancient fittings and dated cabinets. Moreover, for many new and young home-owners, renovations in their newly acquired homes means splashing out on expenses…
This is why I love the idea of these cheap and easy-to-do mini-makeovers with paint. In almost every example, you can see that virtually nothing has been done to the existing cabinetry and fittings of the bathrooms. Rather, the home-makers have made use of paint and wood stains, new handles and a few well-chosen soft furnishings to perform the following bathroom makeovers:

It seems that the number one tip take-away from these bathroom makeovers is to keep your walls lovely and light and to keep your cabinetry either dark or light in colour if you want to achieve a contemporary look and feel.

But one of my favourite finds was this tap transformation (above): taking the shiny gold taps and giving them a hipster-chic spin with a lick of matt black paint!
So, folks – have fun with your bathroom DIY and remember this doesn’t have to break the bank or the budget 😉
