Those of you afflicted by ‘the Pinterest’ may well be acquainted with the iconic and very pin-able conical wooden staircase below. Over the last few months I have collected many pictures which stand out but which one knows very little about, and this staircase image most certainly fell into that category.
Isay Weinfeld Casa Cubo Guesthouse
Flash forward to yesterday… and all of a sudden I was able to contextualize the architecture, because the staircase is actually part of a gallery/guesthouse, Casa Cubo in São Paulo (Brazil), by architect Isay Weinfeld.
This Casa Cubo Guesthouse was commissioned / built by a couple with a love of art who wanted a space to showcase their collectables – a space in which they could entertain their visiting guests (wouldn’t it be nice to have the sort of means to be able to build a piece of architecture like this, just to satisfy this kind of whim, noh?!)
I realise this sort of architectural dream-space may well be beyond the practicalities of many of us, but it is certainly wonderful to marvel at this modern, white and crete free-flowing space that is nestled in a garden of verdant greenery…
