Our colour of the month, Lavender Veil (P4-A2-1), combines the stability of blue with the energy of red to strike a perfect balance. In colour psychology, experts say that lilac (a shade of purple) encourages creativity, uplifts and calms the mind and nerves.
Lavender Veil forms part of the fourth Colour Story, Hi-Glo, from the 2018 Plascon Colour Forecast. I call this colour story the ‘rebel’ palette of the 2018 forecast. Our identities are increasingly being characterised by pushing the boundaries and finding the perfect space where we can play with our personal expression.
Whether you go classic or modern in your execution of this beautiful and almost ethereal and mystical hue, you have a winner either way.
As seen in the pics above, this hue featured prominently in the Plascon stand at Decorex Johannesburg where the 2018 Plascon Colour Forecast was launched. The “room” was curated and brought together by Taryn Lamberti and Darryn Freeman in a fun and playful way.
Lavender Veil Inspiration
We also celebrated South African Garden Day on the 21st of October, so what better way to illustrate this colour than with some inspiration from nature. Jacarandas are in full bloom, agapanthuses are budding, and of course the presence of Lavender is all around. You can add as much or as little of this hue into your décor – even just a bunch of flowers will do.
If you’re still not sure whether you can fall in love with this beautiful hue, I’ll leave you with some fashion inspiration from the 2017 catwalks. Lilac features strongly in collections, from ready-to-wear through to haute couture.
