Every year I love going to KAMERS in Irene. This year was no different, apart from the fact that I took a first-timer with me. My sister-in-law has just moved back from India after living there for four and a half years, and you can say that she is somewhat of an expert when it comes to markets – there is just no better person to give me an expert opinion (and as an added bonus, she also kept my spending in check).
In the picture above, you can see the goodies that I came home with, and I’d also like to share some of my other favourite finds.
As we entered KAMERS, my nose lead me straight to SoyLites – soy-body candles with rich aromatherapy fragrances. It is so much more than a candle. I bought the Peaceful Summer blend with citronella, lemongrass and lavender. As they say: bye-bye mozzies and bugs, I am at peace with nature.
And I just love the packaging, which reminds me of ice-cream pastels, as well as Plascon’s 2017 Colour Forecast.
SoyLites candles should definitely be on your Christmas-stocking wish list. You can shop online and have them delivered to your door. I have already sent another express request to Santa 🙂
I love Origami… The pieces above are from Origami.is.Me – how gorgeous are their vibrant colours? Made from coloured paper, they are coated in clear glue to ensure strength and durability. This is the perfect gift for your colleague or friend who has everything. I would just love one of these for my desk at work – guaranteed to brighten up the bluest Monday.
They have also inspired me to look up some Origami videos during the holidays and give it a go!
Of course, I have to admit that I am biased – how could I not love these quirky painted pieces? Perfect for a nursery or equally lovely for those new student digs in the New Year. See their stunning collection at La Fede.
Last but not least, these little creatures (below) stole my heart – so much so, that I brought one home and named “her” Rowena.
These lovelies above are from Wooden Doodles. It’s all about recycling: Deirdre Botha uses old wood and other parts picked up from a scrap yard to create each individual piece. She adds personality by hand, painting the faces herself. You don’t simply buy a Wooden Doodle, you adopt one. Time to get yours!
How could I leave without a GOOD dress. I love anything with stripes and this one (see first pic) had my name on it. GOOD Clothing is a Cape Town-based label that provides simple but on-trend styles for every woman. You can find GOOD Clothing on Facebook as their website is currently under construction.
I will end off with feedback from the first-timer: Shopping at Kamers is such a pleasure. Beautiful things with air-conditioners to boot.
That, in my world, spells success.
