I would like to paint my room grey, but not sure which colour grey to use of your range between: bali deep, bovine, crete shore, paris paving. I have a small room that is very hot in summer, and it gets afternoon sun. Could you recommend a colour that would work in my room.

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

      Hi Marishall,

I have consulted with our colour experts at the Plascon Spaces Showroom – please see the following recommendations and requests:

The grey palette is right on trend at present and is the perfect neutral palette to go with bright coloured accents or white.

I love your Plascon selection of Paris Paving (cool grey) and Crete Shore (cool green grey undertone) – both are on my list of favourites.

I am concerned that the room is very hot in the afternoons and if you do not have air conditioning in your room the black colour (Paris Paving, Bovine) will absorb the heat from the sun and make the room temp feel higher than it already feels! Crete Shore is cooler as it has a green hue.

If you want to make this small room appear larger, Paris Paving will do this – provided you keep the furniture in the space to a minimum. (No Clutter)

Standing shelves/bookcases/filing cabinets will make the space look smaller and I suggest you add floating shelves to your wall and paint them in the same colour as the wall to make them disappear. (If you do use this mid grey, be aware a fan or air conditioner will be a good option to keep the space cool)

      • What colour is the flooring?
      • What colour is your furniture?
      • Is this a study?

To cool this space I would use a lighter grey Plascon Essential Collection colour called Off Shore on 3 walls and use the mid charcoal (Paris Paving) as a feature or accent wall.

The Off Shore is a cool mid grey which will look super with white ceilings and white skirtings to give the room a light cool airy bright ambience.

Can you give me some info regarding your flooring etc so I can understand what mood you are trying to create. (A good resolution mobile photo of the room will also help). Email me (Claire Bond) at the contact email below

Hi Marishall – see also the linked colour cards below:

      Bovine 47
      Crete Shore 52
      Geneva Morn 51
      Off Shore 50
      Paris Paving 53

Please note: it is advised that you first purchase tester-pots and test the colour before purchase of product. Paint 2 coats of the recommended colour/s and look at the colour the next day in the morning, noon and evening (before committing to the colour and purchase) 🙂

      Kind regards.

    Hi

We have bought a thatch house with small red burnt quarry tiles, house through out. Second floor white wooden floors.

I am so confused as to what colour to go with, Grey and or soft mocha beige, ie love the idea of grey but with definitely a brown undertone.
    what would you suggest?

Grey brown undertone or simple a colour that I have been going for ever and a day namely the soft cream mocha’s…

So confused? 🙂 thanks to advise Mareyke

  3. Nizam says:

    Hi
We have provisionally selected Thames Dusk as our main exterior color, however we are finding difficulty in selecting a complimentary lighter shade of an alternative color but not in a grey palette. We require some warmth as we trying to refrain from a completely architectural “office type ” appearance.

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

Dear Nizam, Thank you for your enquiry. Thames Dusk is a beautiful colour! We had a look, and this is what we suggest:

You could go for either Frontier (O6-E2-1) or Soldier (O6-E2-2). [Please note that the colour code ‘O’ is a letter, not a numerical zero]

If you want to go for something slightly cooler, you can go for Velddrift (Y2-D2-3) or Stone Wash (Y2-D2-2).

It is advised to first purchase tester-pots and test the colour before purchase of product.

You are welcome to send a picture of the exterior of your home to spaces@plascon.co.za and they are able to do three colour options for you to make the choosing easier.

      Regards
      Zurita

the roof sheeting colour is Agean Splendour please can you assist with a shade of grey that will complement the building. We are colour banding a colour called burnt orange in-between the grey.

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

Hi Pravesh – thanks for visiting Plascon Trends. I have consulted with our colour experts at the Plascon Spaces Showroom – please see Patty’s response below:

Good day – Thank you for your enquiry.

The best colours that would complement a burnt orange and Agean Splendour are

      1. Serious 37 (see linked presentation below)
      2. Geneva Morn 51 (see linked presentation below)

Serious is a neutral grey and Geneva Morn is also a neutral grey but is slightly darker.

Your colour presentation can be viewed here.

Please note that colours rendered on a digital screen may look slightly different to the actual colours on the swatch-card. It is advised to first purchase tester-pots and test the colour before purchase of product.

Hi, I am so thankful to be able to ask my questions to a Plascon specialist. Could you please assist in choosing the colours for the exterior of my house. Style is Contemporary so I like the idea of using shades of grey with perhaps white as a contrast colour. What Plascon shades would you suggest? Roof colour is Charcol.

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

Hi Eriza, thanks for visiting Plascon Trends. I have consulted with our colour experts at the Plascon Spaces Showroom – please see their response below:

      Good day Eriza,

Please find attached digital swatches. I have attached the warm grey options, as this suits the contemporary styled home and works great with the white as a contrast colour. A great combination is Off Shore 50, Paris Paving 53 & White WAA 1 (Wall & All) as a contrast.

We do have a facility in which you can email images of your house through to spaces@plascon.co.za in which we can apply colour to the actual photo, giving a visual representation. For any further questions, please contact us at the above contact address.

Good evening. Thank you for this blog. Please can you assist me in selecting a paint colour for living area and bedrooms.

My floors are laminate medium colour brown wood with rustic look

Furniture is rustic white with cream couches.

    Cornices and skirting are white

I was thinking of using ‘off shore50 ‘ but your advice will be greatly appreciated

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

Hi Denver – below is the response from one of our colour consultants from the Plascon Spaces Showroom:

      Good day Denver,

Off Shore 50 is a nice contemporary grey colour that has a warm undertone to it, which works well with wood tones as well as any other warm colours surrounding it. I have also included two greige options in a Mood Board presentation which can be viewed here.

Please test a colour before making a final purchase, this is a visual representation of the colour and can vary from screen to screen.

Hi Sarah – thanks for visiting Plascon Trends 🙂

If you can give me some basic details of your space/s (type/use of space; approximate size, amount of light; and if you any distinguishing features, furniture, tiles, ceilings or existing colours that you would like to match), I can forward these details to the colour consultants and they can give you some options?

        Kind regards.

  9. Estee Steyn says:

    Good day
I am looking for a neutral but warm colour to paint my whole house interior. The rooms are not big so I have been warned not to go to dark but find the light colour undertones are to pink eg.“Warm bread”. I dislike a cream, and yellow whitish wall. Colours I have looked at and got 250ml Samples pods of is Papyrus, Ivory Parchment and Springbok Chest – the small sample pots do not match colour cards at all due to the mixing machines not being able to match the ratios in such small samples. This has left me back at square 1.
The Papyrus – looks too much like the current yellow cream colour on our wall don’t know if this will go darker in bigger container and end up being the perfect match and balance between warm neutral brown/grey…?
The Ivory Parchment just looks grey with a purple undertone and I am scared this might end up being too dark – don’t know if the Velddrif might be better? This was our favorite colour but is scared it might end up being too cold and dark?
The Springbok chest sample looks way to red, they apparently add more yellow in the bigger containers. Will Ivory Snow be end up being a better option here but not be just creamy yellow?
Please help I am not good with making such big decisions and with the pods not being exact matches I just don’t know.

  10. Megan says:

    Hi There

I am looking to paint my double volume apartment and am not sure what off white to use. The space is very bright and modern with white curtains. Also looking for a nice grey/blue to use for my kitchen cupboards…

    Any suggestions? Thanks so much

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

      Hi Megan,

Please see (click to view) the off-white options that you can use and also the colours for your kitchen cabinets.

Please note that these computer-rendered simulations show digital colour and may vary from the actual dry paint colour. The actual colour will vary depending on the gloss level, application method, film variance, substrate and light source. For critical colour matches, a sample of paint should be applied, allowed to dry, and checked before proceeding with the entire project.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Lungile Mtshali at spaces@plascon.co.za

  11. Sanmarie says:

    Hi

We want to paint our open plan living room and kitchen a light grey (the walls were painted a yellowish colour by the previous owners). The roof is knotty pine, which we intent to whitewash. The living room gets a lot of natural light, but the kitchen much less. We would however prefer to use the same paint colour for both areas.

We sampled Off Shore, but on our walls it appears to have a purple undertone. We had the same issue with Light Stone in another apartment which we painted – it looked light purple instead of grey. Which other colour can we try (perhaps a bit lighter than Off Shore) which will not look purple?

    Thank you

    • Sanmarie says:

Apologies, I meant the ceiling is knotty pine 🙂

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

Hi Sanmarie – please see below for options from one of Plascon’s colour consultants:

      Good day Sanmaire,

Just to field your problem, the yellow undercoat will affect lighter top coats i.e. colours like Off Shore and those whiter. You are quite correct; Light Stone can have a mauve hue to it depending on the light and surrounding colours. If possible, it does help to paint your existing yellow walls in an off-white before painting a new colour. I recommend Plaster E16-2 and Corbusier E17-2 as neutral grey options.

As always, we advise that you purchase tester-pots from your local hardware and try the colour/s on a small surface before buying large quantities.

If you have any further questions, you may contact Patty (details below).

I am wanting to paint my entire house. I have light laminate wooden floors with both grey and brown undertones. My furniture is dark brown with creams and grey accessories. I also have exposed brown with dark grey brick work. I want to paint my home in different shades at grey that will create warmth, light and space in my smaller rooms

    • Plascon comments moderator says:

Hi Ashleigh – thanks for visiting Plascon Trends 🙂

Your question was forwarded to our colour consultants at the Plascon Spaces Showroom. Please see Lungile’s response below:

      Good day Ashleigh,

Below are two options of grey:

Ashleigh - Plaster and Light Stone

Please note that these colour swatches are digital renders, and depending on your screen, the monitor colour may vary from the actual dry paint colour. Digital colour gives you a visual idea. We recommend that you purchase a 1L sample in the product with which you intend to paint your walls i.e. Plascon Cashmere or Plascon Double Velvet as your testing option. Please paint two coats on a white surface allowing each coat to dry in between. It is important to look at the colours in the morning, midday and late afternoon to ensure that you are happy with how it changes under different light conditions. Alternatively, you can purchase a smaller tester pot from your local hardware and similarly try the colour on a small surface before buying large quantities.

Hard-copy swatches are obtainable from the Plascon Spaces Showroom: spaces@kansaiplascon.co.za
