On the last day of Decorex

I hope you sing this to the tune of “On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…” I’ve had this song in my head the whole morning. 🙂

I really got a lot from Decorex Cape Town this year. It was great seeing some Cape Town contacts whom I have not seen in a while, and I have also met some great new people. On top of this, I walked away with a whole lot of inspiration –  enough to keep me busy until we see you at Decorex Johannesburg in August.

As with yesterday’s post, here is the second part of my “favourite” list. I’ve also featured our favourites on the Plascon Spaces Instagram account. Please share your favourites with us using the hashtag #ourfavourites

Tshidzo Art at Decorex Cape Town 2016

Tshidzo Mangena is a fine artist from Pretoria. I loved watching him work; the process is so effortless and inspiring. Look at his work on Instagram @tshidzoart.

What started off as the black-and-white painting above, transformed into the painting below in just a couple of hours.

Plantation Shutters – custom designed quality shutters

I loved this simple yet elegant exhibition space; cleverly executed using beautiful colours in the exquisite rug, adding a pop of colour with the scatters – I just could not walk past.

Franke at Decorex Cape Town 2016

Franke makes me want to redo my kitchen… I love their slogan, “make it wonderful”, and while there are quirky elements, the designs are elegant with ranges from traditional to ultra-modern. If you missed them at Decorex, visit their website at www.franke.co.za or follow their blog at makeitwonderful.co.za

Last but not least, I have to say a big thank you to Marcelle Coetzee (a second year B.com Marketing student) who shadowed me on Saturday and had the guts to do a 3D walkabout through a kitchen while sitting on a chair – with what looks like space goggles and earphones on her head. I just could not get myself to do it.

I am sure that you enjoyed Decorex as much as we did. If you did not make it, watch out for the dates for next year. Don’t miss it again, and see you at Decorex Johannesburg when Plascon launches their Colour Forecast for 2017.
