Red is our Colour of The Month and we’ve been highlighting it in many of our posts this last week… It also pops up in the Union Jack flag and we are of course celebrating Queen Elizabeth the II’s Diamond Jubilee in the month of June, so red is all very on trend right now.

Iconic art works such as “Red Room” by Henri Matisse will always inspire us, but equally we find red inspiration in avant-garde art installations by Cildo Meireles (2008) and Louise Bourgeois (1994).

Looking to nature we draw inspiration from the red colour of chillies and apples.

And we loved these applications of red colour into homes. Being a colour associated with warmth, energy and stimulation, we think it’s ideal for hallways and living-rooms. To recreate these looks in your home, we suggest Plascon paint colours like “Lobster Red” (R5-B1-1) and “Red Red Wine” (R3-C1-1) from the “Expressions” Palette in the 2012 Colour Forecast… Happy painting!
