Talented and creative Claire Bond (below) from Plascon Spaces Showroom in Johannesburg, drawing the crowds with paint effect demos. Demonstration times are 10:30am, 1:30pm and 4pm each day until Sunday at the Plascon Studio.
A beautiful stand designed by Lisa Walters, showcasing a combination of pastels and metallics. This stand has to be seen to be truly appreciated – I fell in love with it. For more info, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Four Durban designers participated in the Volvo Made for You design pods. Each designer was given a Volvo to drive for the weekend; they then designed a space, inspired by their driving experience.
Bianca Shaw from Slinx tested the Volvo V40: the car’s clean lines, serenity and mood-lights inspired her and reminded her of the ocean; her pod reflected this experience and is sophisticated, calm and inspiring. The three other designers with Volvo inspired pods are Che Hooper of Portfolio Design, Jennifer Jones Interiors, and Ground Floor Interiors.
Nicky and Leonie from Inspired Design run part-time and online short courses on Fashion and Interior Design. Find out more about their upcoming courses on offer at the show, or visit www.inspireddesigncreativeclasses.com
Some interesting antique goodies from Hey Jude’s Antiques Barn.
“My Rhino” is a project started by ceramic company Or-gari to increase awareness of the plight of rhinos; the showcase exhibits these beautifully hand-painted Rhino décor pieces. My Rhino donates a portion of the proceeds to The Kariega Foundation with an aim to protecting some of our treasured rhinos.
The show is open from 10am to 8pm today and Saturday, and closes at 6pm on Sunday. Tickets cost R60, with discounts for pensioners and children. Hope to see you there.
